I’m glad you arrived! This is the first blog post for the latest rendition of my travel blog. On past ‘big’ trips, I’ve been able to use TravelPod which is pretty designer and user friendly. Unfortunately, TravelPod is no more and one must find other ways to create a travel blog so here we are at WordPress! The kind Support Chat folks have been very patient with me and helped me (for hours) to set it up.
The image that I’ve selected to open the blog is not New Zealand but, rather, another bit of The Commonwealth: Canada! This is Victoria Harbor in Victoria, British Columbia, taken this past summer 2017. This is the Fisherman’s Wharf area and while it may look calm and relaxing, it’s really a crazy busy byway with ships and boats, water taxis, sea planes taking off and landing, kayakers and paddle boarders. It’s bustling around here! I highly recommend visiting Victoria and the surrounding area. There’s so much to do and see and experience: bike rides, carriage rides, The Parliament building, Rachel Carson’s home and gallery, Buchart Gardens, the best fish and chips on a local pier, friendly people, the Royal British Columbia Museum and all the rest of Vancouver Island.
So, where shall we go this time? We’re headed to New Zealand, both the North Island and the South Island. The first two weeks will be in the north, starting in Auckland and then having a base on the island of Waiheke, just east of Auckland. There will be some trips to the northern part of the island and to the central part (yes, some famous movie locations too). Then Karen will arrive and we’ll head to the South Island for more adventures. I’ll try to post pictures and blogs along the way so you can join in when you need or want an escape or just want to travel on the adventure. I hope you have a great time. I’ll keep you posted!! Thanks for joining in!
How to navigate the site: The blog posts will be in a grid of pictures once I get a few posts going. Just click on the image and title and you can follow along. The menu is in the upper right corner, the 3-lines that have important information! There are Maps and a Gallery of all the photos and also an Archive of blog posts if you missed out.
Bon voyage, dear neighbor and friend!
